'Ope'ape'a, or Hawaiian hoary bat, is the only endemic bat in the Hawaiian islands. Tiny and adorable, 'ope'ape'a typically weigh around half an ounce and have a wingspan around a foot long. They are nocturnal, coming out at night to feed on insects and are more solitary bats, preferring to roost alone instead of in colonies.
